Happy New Year!... What a wonderful Holiday Party we had on December 6 to celebrate another exciting year for the Kudzu Art Zone! This year's party was also the Opening Reception for our last Gallery Show for 2009 - “Fire -Wind-Water”. There was a great turn-out and the food was terrific.
And a special THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who contributed items for the Norcross Cooperative Ministries Food Bank at 2275 Mitchell Road, Norcross. Your contributions, which must have totaled hundreds of dollars of miscellaneous items, were delivered and much appreciated by the organization.
And thank you to all those members who have contributed their thoughts and concerns to the council during this last year. We are just starting in this new direction and input from you is very important in the development of new policies and procedures. We want KAZ to be a success and YOU are part of making that happen.

Monday, January 25th at 7 pm:
Our next member meeting will feature Susan Moreno as our special guest. Susan is a gifted caricature artist right here in the Atlanta area. As her demo, she will be doing caricatures of a few of our members present at the meeting. Plus, after the demo, Anita Stewart, the Brush Lady, will have all her brushes available at bargain prices! Monday, February 22th at 7 pm:

Monday, March 22 at 7 pm:
This time we have one of our own members, Judith Surowiec, as our guest artist. Judy is full of wonderful, colorful ideas about art and her paintings are unique expressions of her thoughts and experience. She has asked those who attend this meeting to wear something bright and colorful...it all means an exciting demo, we are sure!

At the Gallery
January 22, 23 & 25, 2010 members can submit entries for:
- Gallery: “REFLECTIONS OF THE HEART”, juried exhibit. Entry fee $10 for 1-3 entries. Opening Reception is Friday, February 12, 2010 at 7 pm.
- Dominicks Restaurant: Need small – medium work (10-12 pieces) and large 2-D work (7-10 pieces). Entry fee $5 for 1-3 entries.
- NCACC Venue: Need 10-12 medium to large 2-D works. No entry fee.
NOTE: All works that have been at Dominick's and the NCACC will be returned to the KAZ storeroom by February 5th, 2010. Please remember to pick them up the next time you are at KAZ.
Reminders
Gallery sitting: Bring your personal calendars to the next member meeting or when you submit work for our gallery show so that you can sign up to “gallery sit” during the new exhibit. The participants in the current exhibit will be the priority gallery sitters.
Open Studio: Diana Dice is continuing to host the open studio on Tuesdays from 10am to 3:30 pm. If you would like to join fellow members for a day of fun painting and discussion, please come! Bring a sack lunch...or we may go eat somewhere in downtown Norcross.
Sketch Night with Professional Models: Just a reminder for anyone interested in figure drawing with a live model. Tuesday nights from 6-8pm. Fee is $5 per person which goes toward paying the model. A great opportunity to refine your drawing skills! Open to KAZ members only.
